A Natural World Heritage Site that preserves exceptional marine biodiversity through science, monitoring, and coordinated initiatives

Join its conservation efforts.

The National Park is an oceanic archipelago in the Mexican Pacific, internationally recognized for its extraordinary marine biodiversity and for protecting one of the best-preserved ecosystems on the planet. Its geographic isolation, four volcanic islands, and remarkable biological richness make it an essential refuge for iconic species such as sharks, giant mantas, whales, and sea turtles.

As the largest no-take marine protected area in North America, it serves as a key site for scientific research, ecological monitoring, and the conservation of fundamental processes that sustain ocean health.

Total area: 36.6 million acres

 SAN BENEDICTO

Formed by the Bárcena volcano, this island is known for its distinctive ash cone and the lava delta resulting from its eruption. Due to this volcanic event, its vegetation is mainly composed of herbaceous plants.

SOCORRO

Dominated by the active Monte Evermann volcano, which rises from the ocean oor. Its landscape is characterized by tropical cloud forest and shrubs.

ROCA PARTIDA

This islet is the most inhospitable on the surface, but it serves as an important refuge for a wide variety of seabirds. It is the remnant of an underwater volcano and supports rich biodiversity around it.

CLARIÓN

Notable for its emerging mountainous formations, this island is primarily covered by shrubs and grasslands adapted to the arid climate.
